Week Three: The Post War(s) Era (1951 - 2000)

Activity 1: Meat and Three Veg
dinner (2).jpg
It was common for women in the 1950s to stay home with their children and raise their family. They were called ‘housewives.’ Many housewives followed a simple rule when they prepared the evening meal: the ‘meat and three veg’ rule. This meant that they prepared dinners that included three different vegetables and a type of meat (eg. beef, lamb, or chicken).

On your blog tell us if you think that the ‘meat and three veg’ rule is a good one. Do you like the rule? Would you enjoy eating a typical 1950s dinner? Why or why not?

Well it's maybe a good rule, but it's healthy the veg is and the lamb.Yes I think i will enjoy this it's so tasty the veg is good for my brain and lamb.

Kia Ora Hazel,

It is great to see that you are thinking about what is healthy and good for our mind and body. I do my very best to eat a range of foods so that I am able to get enough vitamins and minerals to keep me feeling healthy and strong. Do you try to eat a balanced diet as well?

I hope that you and your family have a wonderful week-end and that school has started off well for you this year. It's hard to believe that it's 2018 already, isn't it?!

See you at Pt England when I come in to hand out the certificates and prizes later this month.

Cheers,
Rachel :)
